Firehouse

Instead of hosting, Isaac S. is now competing in the ABS Builder Challenge! This round's unique element to incorporate in all builds is a red minifigure bucket! That is surely the most interesting piece used by the hosts so far, at least to me. When you have a red bucket, I am definitely not surprised that one of the builders thought of a firetruck AND firehouse! The building is very nicely done, and is especially good considering Isaac is primarily a castle builder. Make sure to check out addition shots of this station, and the vehicles he created for it!

Nathaniel Stoner

     My name is Nathaniel Stoner, and I am an very active LEGO builder.  I mostly build in the themes of castle and science-fiction, but I also dabble in other genres and create occasional random MOC's (My Own Creations). 

     When I was younger, I would get and build small LEGO sets for my birthday, but I was never really into them.  When they fell apart, I would become frustrated attempting to put them back together and would throw them in a box in my closet.  I couldn't stand them!

     Then, miraculously, I became addicted to the LEGO brick later in my teen years.  Ever since, I have continued to build up (pun intended) my collection of bricks and to expand my knowledge of techniques and building skills.  LEGO is truly more than a toy, its an art form and a way to express yourself.

     For the most part, I collect LEGO Star Wars (mainly the minifigs), which is probably my favorite LEGO theme.  I have a fairly decent collection, including some of the original 1999 sets, such as the Snowspeeder, X-Wing, and Naboo starfighter.  I also collected LEGO the Lord of the Rings when those sets first came out.  The minifigs are great, and the story remains one of my favorites ever. 

     My hope is to inspire other young (and perhaps even older) LEGO builders to unleash their inner creativity!  You can find me on my Flikr here. 

Vroomy Vroomy, Smashy Smashy

What better way to show your excitement for the LEGO Porsche than to crash test it? The leading computer magazine in Germany, c't, ran a contest giving away one of these orange beauties, but they also crash tested one with the help of the German motor club ADAC. And by crash test I don't mean tossing off your balcony (I still get hate mail for that), they used an actual crash test facility and shot it from many, many angles with high speed cameras. The results are pretty epic.

Air Hockey

A new addition to Chris McVeigh's arcade game designs: air hockey! This is such a simple, but incredibly accurate and seemingly playable design! I really like that it's minifigure scale, too. Thanks to those new modified 1x1 round tiles with pegs, this design is even more complete. I'm looking forward to Chris' possible future designs and color combinations of these!

A Peaceful Life Disturbed

"The work has stalled, I need you to come back."

In this scene, recreated from Rogue One by Inthert, Director Orson Krennic is attempting to convince Galen Erso to return to his work on Project Celestial Power after finding the Ersos on Lah'mu. This scene is instantly recognizable, with the interesting landscaping and of course the Death Troopers. I also really like the devices that Inthert created for this scene, like the moisture vaporator.

20 Megabytes?! How Will We EVER Fill That?

Yes, that title is based on a true story. This computer reminds me of my wife's first computer, a 386 beast from Hewlett Packard, and it would have looked right at home on this wonderful retro desk by Chris McVeigh. There's so many details to love here, from the insertable floppies to the what is certainly a bit of a squeaky chair. There's even hidden details in the drawers that open. Stay tuned for building instructions too!

Everything new is old again

Crouching Triangles, Hidden Hotdogs

I've seen the famed Hearst Tower in real life, and while this brilliant micro scale recreation from builder Dan_Sto isn't as shiny, the real one doesn't have hotdogs integral to it's structure. Think about that the next time you're wandering in Manhattan. Luckily there's usually there's a hotdog cart for the inevitable craving.

Halls of Gold

Built for the Middle-earth LEGO Olympics, Carter Witz brought to us another representation of the wonderful stone walls of Erebor. What I love most about this build are the colors: gold, light gray, and the beautiful sand green. Carter did a nice job including details besides just treasure, such as the stairs, detailed columns, little windows, and hearths. Good luck if you drop your wedding ring in this. . .

A Beautiful Mosque

Patrick Massey revealed his latest LEGO creation, a truly beautiful mosque from the middle-east. The colors he combined with tan give this building a unique look, especially that olive green brick-built dome that, quite literally, perfectly tops off this MOC. The windows on the sides are also executed well, probably my favorite details of this structure. Make sure to take a closer look!
