SHIPtember is about half way over, and my Flickr feed is chock-full-o-SHIPs. This one by SHIPtember evangelist and consummate spacer Si-Mocs caught my eye. It's like a giant dagger in space, with a touch of color for contrast and interest. But my favorite feature has to be those engine pods, this baby looks fast and powerful.
Humans have been harvesting from the sea since we were smart enough to realize there's quite a bit of yummy food in there. Over the years the technology might have advanced a bit, but when it comes down to it, it's really just people in boats that make it all happen. This MOC by builder Arjan Oude Kotte features these very people and those very boats, and you can practically smell the salt air and hear the waves lapping and seagulls.

All complaints about tossing the Helicarrier off the balcony, the lack of content on the YouTube channel, why we didn't feature your LEGO Ideas project, why Tommy has such a stupid face and of course where we get off with sarcastic posts can be directed to Krommaug, who will deal with your issues in a swift and timely manner. Inthert has released the latest model for his Star Wars Ring Worlds collection, with this terrain showcasing his new miniature All Terrain Tactical Enforcer, the larger tank used by Republic forces during the time of the Clone Wars. In the animated Clone Wars film, Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano use the AT-TE's to scale a large cliff on the planet Teth. Instead of a flat world recreation, the builder decided to focus on a different scene perspective for this Teth terrain. I think the presentation is very neat, but those tanks are definitely the highlight for me.
I have a feeling there is soon going to be a large spike in LEGO Blade Runner activity, as seen here with this latest model from Legopard. The Blade Runner cruiser was already cool enough, yet this builder was able to put an even cooler and more unique spin on the vehicle then you would normally seen. This model is just such an awesome mixture of futuristic and steampunk combined!
Here's a little something by builder tigertvi to help you get through these challenging times. With the economy, hurricanes, fires, questionable "leadership" and everything else going on in the world that is constantly attempting to harsh your mellow, use this image to help get you through. Inspired by The Oatmeal, this rimshot cat is the perfect punchline emphasis for all the jokes that life is throwing at us right now. When something hits, just think of this, go "ba-dum-tss", and push on.
Ah billionaires, they sure build big houses don't they? Take this Bruce Wayne character, he certainly lives high on the hog doesn't he? Builder KW_Vauban has built just part of his opulent mansion, and it's positively jaw dropping. The level of detail in this thing is insane, I strongly encourage you to click through to take a tour of this place. As for the Batman/Bruce rumors, I don't think there's anything to it. Clearly someone that lives this nice has no need to dress up in black and go punch bad guys in the face.
According to Chris Maddison, Critical Role is a complicated thing to explain. So I looked it up! Apparently, it's a show about a group of voice actors playing Dungeons and Dragons. They call themselves Vox Machina. The current story line will be ending soon, and Chris has built these amazing figs to commemorate the finale. I especially like how the photos were taken outside in natural surroundings, very effective. After seeing these characters, I think I'll be adding the show to my binge-watch lineup!
When I lived in London I walked through Chinatown all the time, it was one of the routes of my regular commute. I found it appealing because it was always buzzing with it's own energy, and I remember thinking that if it was even infinitesimally close to what it was like to be in Shanghai or Beijing, those places must be intense. But it also had a very paradoxical tranquil side that I really can't explain, how could it be hopping and zen at the same time? And that's sort of the vibe I get from this wonderful MOC by builder HCK_1974. It is at once busy, and relaxed, and so very appealing.
Mark Erickson built this creation a year or two back, but just now is getting around to posting it on his Flickr. I'm glad he did, 'cause his Roman MOC's are some of my favorites from him. This model he is presenting to us this week features excellent landscape, the highlight of the build for me. The terrain has subtle layering that blends together very well, and the trees top off this scene. The minifigs, featuring custom accessories, are also well posed and express the emotion of the scene very well. Hoping for some more Roman creations from you, Mark!
I think just about everyone can relate to this moving sculpture by builder daveh_design. With the political environment, climate change, disastrous storms, fires, earthquakes, job losses at LEGO and everything else going on I'm surprised we're not all weeping softly in this very pose.
Just about an hour ago as I was leaving Starbucks I spotted a bright yellow Camero in the parking lot with the license place "BUZZZZ" and chuckled to myself. Then I refresh my Flickr feed and discover this stunning offering from builder Cesbrick. Say what you will about Michael Bay (and I've said plenty, I've worked with the dude) but this character resonates with a whole lot of people.
Builder Lego Admiral is back with another addition to his growing collection of wearable Star Wars helmets. This time around it's Jango Fett, feared bounty hunter, general badass and Boba Fett's "dad". I really expected Jango to play a larger role in the prequels, given the popularity of Boba. Alas, he ended falling short of expectations, and shorter than he was at the beginning of Episode II.
And when I say "vs" it's not in the context of these two fighting, it's more of a "cute-off". Yes, two of the most feared adversaries seem to be in a battle to out ugly each other, but failing miserably because they're so darned adorable. I think if the crew of the Nostromo or Arnold had been up against these two the results might have been far more "squee". Nice build Mr. Brickman.
I know practically nothing about trains, but I do appreciate them, especially a classic steam powered beast. And these two by builder Cale Leiphart are about as beastly as they come. At first I thought I was looking at different sides of the same model, then I saw them side by side and it took me a little while to spot the differences. The attention to detail and dedication to accuracy is impressive.
This boat is sorta blowing my mind. I mean, it's inspired by the Black Pearl from Pirates of the Caribbean, so it's got my attention already. But that hull design and technique has me absolutely flummoxed. I could not tell you how it's done, nor how it stays together. But combine that with loads of cool techniques and the color palette and it's just a stunner from every angle.
When you hear the word "locust" what do you think of? A mostly harmless grasshopper-like small insect? A plague of mostly harmless grasshopper-like small insects capable of destroying entire crops and devastating everything in their path? How about a neo classic space twin engine gunship? Yeah, that's what I was thinking too, thanks to builder ZCerberus.
The Hit the Bricks exhibit on the campus of Colorado University, Boulder is getting expanded thanks to the efforts of COWLUG. The already massive layout is going to be even bigger with additions like the Koelbel Building here by builder Imagine™. Having built with this wall technique before I know first hand what a huge investment in parts and time it is, but as you can see it's totally worth it.
Confession time, I've never read Stephen King's IT. I've also never seen the Tim Curry movie by the same name. And I have no plans for the new film. It's not that I'm afraid, just not interested. Luckily I don't have to, this brilliant sculpture of Pennywise by builder Tim Lydy is going to haunt my dreams for the next several weeks, thanks Tim!
The most efficient form of planetary vehicle is by far a wheeled transport...it's also the most boring. And let's face it, Unikitty is anything but boring, so of course she has opted for a four legged, saber toothed walking mech. Obviously it's equipped with state of the art communications and weapons, but if I know Unikitty, it's also got a pretty slammin' sound system too. Nice build thenewpoon.
