"You're Dessssspicable"

When I was a kid we lived for Saturday morning. Somehow the affliction that made getting up early so difficult just the day before was lifted and we were up at the crack of dawn and planted in front of the TV set with a bowl of Cheerios. It was time for some Sid & Marty Croft, Tom & Jerry and of course some classic Warner Brothers cartoons. Pepa Quin masterfully captures one of the greatest moments in Daffy/Bugs confrontational history.

Hellboy

I only peripherally got to work on Hellboy, but I did help, and I'm proud of it since it's an awesome movie. Speaking of awesome, check out this way cool MOC of Red himself by The Dealthly Halliwell. It's like a hybrid of the movie and comic versions of Hellboy, and it's very successful. The MOC isn't new, but it's finally been glamor shot so we can all enjoy it.

Obelix

I've never heard of the comic series Obelix and Asterix, but since it's French, I'm not totally surprised. Seeing this MOC got my interest piqued though. This build by IamKritch seems to capture his character pretty well. And that thing behind him? It's a big rock he carries around for some reason.

Toothless

How To Train Your Dragon 2 is nearly here, and to celebrate Stormbringer built this excellent little night fury. I loved the first movie, and I'm looking forward to the second one. I also love this MOC, especially the eyes and head.

Warrior Rose, Graceful Valkyrie

There are a lot of games I haven't played. Honestly I don't get to play much of anything anymore (stupid adult responsibilities) and the popularity of some games honestly baffles me. But not as much as the titles for some games (and characters). This is Warrior Rose, Graceful Valkyrie (huh?) from the game Puzzle & Dragons (double huh?). That aside, this is an excellent MOC from MikeVd. I especially like the shield and the use of the sprue from the leaf parts as a detail.

Napping Santa

I know how you feel Santa, I'm tired too. But tonight's your night, I promise we'll put out some delicious cookies for you. And I've been super good, really! Now, I'd like a Steadicam, some new Canon lenses, a slider dolly, some LED panels, a butterfly frame and black background, some flags, some apple boxes, a junior cart, oh and a LEGO death star, an X-wing...

Nothing says Christmas spirit quite like the desperate acts of a pop star to stay relevant eh? As silly as this is, I would actually hang it on my tree. Iain Heath does it again!

Olaf!

If you've seen Disney's Frozen, you are probably now in love with it's diminutive comic relief, Olaf. From his warm hugs to his fascination with summer, and from his witty one-liners to his continual reconfiguration, he steals the show. BrickJournal's own Joe Meno took his love to the next level and built Olaf in bricks...and took him to his favorite place, the beach.

Rat Fink

Cool! It's Big Daddy Roth's counterculture icon and hotrod legend RatFink! LEGO designer extraordinaire Adam Grabowski built this awesome MOC and while it contains a ton of customization, since he's a LEGO designer we'll let him off the hook. 

Yoshi!

It's no secret I'm a Nintendo fan, and who can resist Yoshi? This sculpture by Joshua Christenson is impressive from both the standpoint of technique and scale. It's not easy to nail a character this well using mostly brick at this scale, but look at it, it's perfect! Oh, and did I mention it's Yoshi?!?

Joe Dalton

This is Joe Dalton, dastardly counterpart to Lucky Luke by Pistash. After all, what use is a good guy if you don't have a bad guy to fight him? It's like limiting your collection to all rebel Star Wars figures, you quickly realize there's not much to do.. This is an especially impressive build considering it's the first character Pistash has ever done.

Awesome Is Squid The Dominant Girl

Take heed upon the image of Squid Girl, for Hatsune shall face the floor in due time. It is skill and perseverance for Ochre Jelly, builder of bricks and quite white in the skin. The forces of photographic commodity are generous throughout & colors are rich in thought. Placement of protrusions to be not confused with nipples.

Lucky Luke

Meet Lucky Luke, a Belgian comic hero said to be "faster than his shadow". Not being up on my Belgian comics I've never heard of this character. But I don't need that knowledge to appreciate what a splendid build this is. Nice work 6kyubi6.

Knight Gundam

I'm starting to wonder if I need to write the code that just automatically blogs anything that LEGO Dou Moko builds. Look at this thing! Great colors, great proportioning, great possibility and oozing with character. So cool!

Mordecai And Rigby

I recognize these characters, I know I've seen them on my son's TV when I was in telling him to clean his room or something, you know, "Parental". I may have even watched for some time, scratching my head and quipping something witty (again, in a very "parental" way, probably not funny). But I can't say I know them. I can however say this is a cool MOC, and I love a good character build.

Bear Guy III

It's a little know fact, but teddybears are the secret guardians of the night. You might just think of them as cute and cuddly, but once the veil of darkness has fallen, and sleep has taken you, they are there to watch over you. OK, it's really from Gundam Build Fighters, but I'm secretly afraid of the dark.

Rockin' Anime

Live on stage! If you're into synthetic Japanese singers recreated in plastic, this post is for you. I just like well done characters, and these fit the bill. I especially like the proportions of the singer, the huge sleeves juxtaposed with the tiny arms are very iconic. The posing on both of these MOCs is great as well.

Meep Meep!

Saturday mornings were awesome when I was a kid. For some reason we were able to wake up early with no ill effects (unlike school days) and it was strait to the TV with a bowl of Cheerios to watch Land of the Lost, Speed Racer and classic Warner Bros Cartoons. One of my favorites was always Road Runner, not for the the stupid bird, but for the cunning but misfortunate Wile E. Coyote. This MOC by matt rowntRee sums it all up in one visual image, nicely played.

Hatsune Miku

What better way to convey a synthetic artist than with ABS plastic? This is singing sensation Hatsune Miku by LEGO DUO Moko. The proportions of this defy logic, how can that much hair be attached and posed? and how does this entire figure stand on those tiny little legs? Masterful.

The Faun

This MOC from The Deathly Haliwell has a particular significance for me. I don't look back on the films that I've worked on with much pride, there's a lot of crap in my portfolio. But there is one film I did that I have no hesitation in saying I'm most proud of, Pan's Labyrinth. This is the title character, the Faun, and it's superb.
