The Flash Vs Captain Cold

No that's not Mr Freeze, he's Batman's nemesis. And no, it's not Blizzard, he hates Iron Man. It's Captain Cold! (man there's a lot of icy villains out there). This guy has been hassling The Flash since 1957, and here we see them in a sub-zero battle thanks to builder bricks.life.idea. It's hard to be the fastest man on the planet when your feet are frozen to the ground huh?

Working At Home Isn't All It's Cracked Up To Be

Working at home is generally no picnic. First, there's continual distractions of home life, like video games, raiding the fridge and hobbies. Then if you're a spouse or parent, there's the continual family distractions. I myself have spent many years on and off working at home, at one point juggling a visual effects job and raising our 2 year old son, it was rewarding but difficult. I'm sure you've all seen "BBC dad", who's live report was hilariously interrupted by his spunky kids and mortified wife. Well now we can appreciate the event recreated in bricks thanks to builder Brickolaje.

Yuyuko's Spell

This is one of those MOCs that makes you go "Oooooooh" while scrolling through Flickr. MikeVD is back with another anime game inspired girl, this time it's Yuyugo Saigyouji from the game Touhou Project (I think that's right, I've never heard of it or played it of course). She's a beauty of a figure, with a clever use of watch band for detail. And the mosaic fan in the background makes this a stunning visual, very nice indeed.

"Old Toby, Finest Weed In The Sound Farthing"

This is one of my favorite scenes in Lord of the Rings. During the calm before the storm, just after Gandalf arrives in the Shire, he and Bilbo enjoy some quality time with their pipes. Just two old friends enjoying each other's company. Pate-keetongu not only recreates the mood and sentiment of the scene, but he also managed to use no less than eight of the "impossible" seed part from the current round of Iron Builder, impressive.

Very Old Friends

Wickedly Awesome

One of the things I enjoy most about Iron Builder is the continual surprises and mind blowing ways the builders find uses for the seed part. I must admit, when I sized up that Duple grass piece the notion of using it for a face was the furthest away from my feeble imagination. But builder Legopard has done exactly that, not only super effectively, but with some exceedingly clever techniques.

"I'm Not Crazy"

Dateline Venice California: For Immediate release.

Local youth enters institution.
On Tuesday this week a local youth known only as "Mike" was institutionalized by his parents.  According to his father "we feared he might hurt someone, that he might hurt himself" so the decision was made to get him somewhere "safe". His mother was certain he was on drugs, despite claims by the youth to the contrary. When interviewed the youth was despondent, uncertain of his future and the motivations of his parents, particularly his mother "All I wanted was a Pepsi, just one Pepsi, and she wouldn't give it to me." Representatives of the institution declined to comment.

Niffler

The Niffler, a burrowing magical creature native to Great Britain with a mischievous nature and a penchant for anything shiny. If you saw Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them you got to see one of these little rascals at his best (worst?). This version by The Deathly Halliwell absolutely nails him, and makes we want to watch the movie again.

Niffler

"Mel"

In mankind's never ending drive to recreate itself artificially, I suppose the inevitable outcome will be robots with less than desirable traits (hopefully murder will not be among them). Think about it, if we want our creations to have emotional characteristics like happiness, compassion and ambition, it stands to reason that they might also have depression, anxiety and anger. This robot by builder justin_m_winn has been nicknamed "Mel" because he tends to be melancholic. I don't know what his primary function is, but I hope it's useful enough to overlook his tendency to be down in the dumps.

Chibi In A Half Shell

The world has sorta gone chibi wild these days. Between several AFOL form factors and the official LEGO Brickheadz sets, these squat little large head dudes are everywhere. So I suppose it was only a matter of time before everyone's favorite adolescent reptilian crimefighters made an appearance. Builder DOGOD Brick Design brings us the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!

Holy Wall Climbers!

It's the simplest of gags, build a wall surface on it's side, add a backdrop of a city turned sideways and then turn the camera on it's side, voila! But even though it was completely obvious how it was done, we were always captivated by these scenes in the original Batman series. And the thing  I love most about this MOC by redfern1950s, is that it was accomplished the exact same way, brilliant!

Proto-Leo

Late last night my cat Crash went sorta bonkers, like he does. One minute he's resting quietly on my chest, purring softly. Then suddenly he's off, there's a clatter in the bathroom, meow, a mad dash to the closet, meow, streaks across the room to the cat condo, meow, back to the bed, meow. Now normally I'm just thinking "what the hell is wrong with you cat?" But I think next time I'll imagine he's pretending he's this fabulous mech by builder Moko, battling some unseen enemy. That way we're both entertained.

Dispatching The Slug

Like the rest of the world, I was shocked and saddened by the loss of Carrie Fisher, but seeing all the outpouring of love in the form of MOCs has made it easier. She was my first movie star crush when I was 9, but my 15 year old brain nearly short circuited when Jedi came out and she showed up in this little number. Builder and international sock model Iain Heath has crafted a fitting tribute to everyone's favorite kickass princess, and least favorite slug crimelord.

You gotta kill a lotta frogs to find your prince!

Just Because I'm Mad At You Doesn't Mean I Don't Love You

We've all been there. If relationships teach you anything it's the ability to love and not like at the same time. Occasionally our significant others do or say something that leads to a fight, and you have to live in that dual state of caring for someone you don't care for, at least for a little while. Nothing illustrates this dichotomy better than this MOC by 74louloute.

Just because I'm mad at you, doesn't mean I don't care or stop loving you

Leonid

I will admit I've never heard of Leonid Yakubovich, but that's not unusual. Here in the states we get no exposure to Russian entertainment. Not to say you can't find it, I'm sure you could, but you have to go looking. And since I don't speak Russian, there's not much reason for me to. But I do appreciate a good character build, and after a bit of research this guy appears to be a character indeed. A wonderful caricature by builder vir-a-cocha.

Showman

Neo

I remember the first time I saw The Matrix. It was during the original theatrical release, and I went in cold. I don't even recall seeing a commercial for it. I went with a group from work, we had been crunching on a project and needed a little recreation, we got it. We all left the theater charged up for stylized storytelling, cutting edge effects and *gasp* an original idea. I don't care much for the sequels, but the original still holds up, it's an amazing little bit of filmmaking. This likeness of the hero by cmaddison just makes me want to watch it again.

For Better Or For Worse Or For Bananas

Congratulations, this minion couple by car_mp is going to tie the knot. But from the looks of it, the groom is perhaps having second thoughts. This looks a lot like a cake topper, but that would have to be a pretty enormous cake. What I really want to know is where those spiffy chromed 4x4 round plates.

A Pair Of Archers

Well, I don't know if "archer" properly describes either, but they both use arrows. This is Legolas of the Woodland Realm, and Daryl Dixon, of...somewhere in the south. They are the latest of a collection of ironic duos from builder Legohaulic. Legolas is an elf, son of  Thranduil, King of the Woodland Realm, and one of the Fellowship of the Ring. He is a loyal companion and was instrumental in the downfall of Sauron. Daryl kills zombies.

The Fellowship of the Dead

Dumbledore The Gray?

Harry Potter never laid eyes on The One Ring, and Albus Dumbledore never entrusted a hobbit to do anything. Although a mashup between these two classic worlds could be a very cool thing. Imagine the construction of Hogwarts being interrupted by a warg attack, or the four founders hosting a feast with Elrond. Another fantastic pair of character busts by Legohaulic.
